DeviantArt has amazing reference images available for artist. These images are of the quality you would find in books like Comic Artist's Photo Reference - People & Poses, which can be found on amazon.com. Here are the links to some of the great references on DeviantArt.

Pose-Emporium

This an amazing collection of stock photos in different genres, themes and angles. Its interesting to see people us the stock images directly in there work. I pretty much want to use them as reference images for the pose or to get detail on articles of clothing and weapons.

Action Poses

Action poses 1 by DanNortonArt
Dan Norton is the artist behind the designs for the rebooted ThunderCats show that aired on Cartoon Network a few years back. Check out his design for a Dr. Who animated series he was pitching and some sketches he did of the Justice League big 3 and Cyborg.

By just entering this phrase action poses into the DeviantArt search bar, these are the amazing images that I got in return. There are over 30,000 images and range from placeholder dummy type figures to complete character sheets.

Fighting Poses

Battle Poses- Ass Kicking by ElementJax Jac Taylor is another amazing artist whose work caught my eye. She has a own project she is working on called "The Elements" which looks phenomenal.

I saw an image I like in the action poses. I chose the more like this option and these are the images that returned. These images are a subset of the action poses but might be easier to go through because there are less of them.

In Closing

Not only can DeviantArt be use to prompt yourself as an artist it also provides access to hundreds of thousands of images, that can be used as references and allow you to improve your drawing skills. Best thing of all, access to these images is completely free.
